Overview
Trip overview
A quick summary of the route, support level, and the main things travelers should know before booking.
Mera Peak (Central) climbing, this technically straight forward climbing takes trekkers to one of the highest of the designated trekking peaks in Nepal. Its altitude-6,461m and the most exceptional panorama of over 6000m peaks, including five of the world’s 8000meter peaks: Mt. Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Lhotse and Cho Oyo from the summit, makes Mera peak one of the most sought after trekking peaks in Nepal.
Mera Peak lies in the Mahalangur section in the Makalu Barun National Park, situated in the Solukhumbu district of Nepal. There are three main summits of Mera Peak: north (6,476m), central (6,461m) and south (6,065m). Col. Jimmy Roberts and Sen Tenzing were the first people to ascend the Mera Central on 20th May 1953. Trekkers require special permit to enter the Makalu Barun National Park and climb the peak.
Mera Peak expedition begins with an exciting 40-45 min flight to the mountain airstrip of Lukla (one of the most dangerous airstrips in the world). We then walk in through the forest of rhododendron, pine and bamboo, taking a longer, less trodden trail that gradually passes through the beautiful landscape of the Hinku Valley up till the Mera Peak. Throughout the trip we feast our eyes on the most incredible views of the mountains, the Sherpa culture and lifestyle and the surrounding landscape. According to the 19 days Mera Peak Climbing itinerary designed by Amigo Treks and Expedition, one day is set aside for a sightseeing day tour of some of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Kathmandu Valley. This itinerary also allows sufficient time for any reasonably physically fit person to make a relaxed ascent.
The standard Mera Peak hiking package promises full board during the trek and breakfast and accommodation before and after the trek, the required permits, licensed and English speaking trekking and climbing guides. However, the package can be customized to your requirements with the guarantee of 100% departure and special group discount.

Climbing Mear Peak is physically demanding due to its altitude, but not technically difficult. To avoid extra difficulty, the trip needs to be planned at the right time of the year. Spring (March-May) and Autumn (September-November) are the best time to climb the Mera Peak in terms of weather, visibility and the trail. Moreover, if you are looking to explore more, you may also be interested in 20 days Mera Peak and Island Peak via Amphu Laptsa package, which is also very much fulfilling.
Note: As a responsible and professional trekking agent, your safety is our top priority. During the trek, the team leader assigned to your group is the one, who is responsible for your safety. These team leaders are also strictly instructed to follow the provided itinerary. However, in case of unfavorable situations like poor weather, bad health of a group member or unforeseen natural disaster, the team leaders hold every authority to alter the itinerary provided to you. In such a situation, we expect and request you to be flexible and cooperative.
Even during the best trekking seasons, high altitude weather conditions can usually get dicey. These conditions directly affect the domestic flight schedule to and from Lukla. The flights may be delayed for a few hours with possible extension of a few days, totally depending upon the weather condition. Therefore, we also request you add a few extra days to your plan. If everything goes according to the plan, the extra day can be spent enjoying other activities like rafting, jungle safari, bungee, or even shopping.
