3. Day 3

   Over the Clouds to Punakha

On clear days, the panoramic view encompasses the entire Eastern Himalayan range, with peaks rising like white sentinels against azure skies.    Today marks the pinnacle of your Bhutanese adventure as we undertake the legendary hike to Taktsang Monastery, better known as Tiger's Nest. After an early drive to Paro, we begin the ascent through pine forests adorned with colorful prayer flags. The trail gradually reveals glimpses of the monastery, impossibly perched on a cliff face 900 meters above the valley floor. The journey takes five to six hours round trip, but every step becomes a meditation as you follow in the footsteps of countless pilgrims. Halfway up, a teahouse provides refreshment and your first full view of Tiger's Nest, seemingly defying gravity as it clings to the vertical rock face. The final approach crosses a waterfall via a bridge draped with prayer flags, then climbs steep steps carved into the cliff itself.
