Route notes
Your Bhutanese adventure begins the moment you touch down at Paro International Airport, where the crisp mountain air and stunning Himalayan backdrop immediately transport you to another world. Our Amigo Treks representative will greet you with a traditional white scarf, marking the beginning of your journey through this enchanted kingdom. After settling in, we'll explore the imposing Rinpung Dzong, a fortress-monastery that perfectly showcases Bhutanese architecture with its towering white walls and golden roofs. The National Museum, housed in an ancient watchtower above the dzong, offers fascinating insights into Bhutan's rich cultural heritage through its collection of thangkas, masks, and traditional costumes. The scenic drive to Thimphu takes you along the Wang Chu river valley, with prayer flags fluttering against dramatic mountain backdrops. Once in the capital, you'll try your hand at Bhutan's national sport at a traditional archery range, where locals will eagerly teach you their techniques amid cheerful songs and playful taunts meant to distract opponents. As evening falls, wander through Thimphu's weekend market, where farmers from surrounding valleys gather to sell fresh produce, handwoven textiles, and aromatic mountain herbs.
